An FAA-licensed remote aircraft pilot, Daniel J. Hale holds Certified Drone Photographer credentials from Professional Photographers of America. Hale specializes in aerial captures of architecture, non-building structures, landscapes and abstract nature images. Based in Dallas, Texas, he travels frequently and extensively.
Aerialographic – Hale's first art photography exhibit – was presented by invitation of Dallas's Janette Kennedy Gallery in July 2017. That show sold out. Hale co-presented a successful second exhibition – November 2018's Vivarium – with renowned artist Jennifer Morgan in the same space. Hale's third gallery show – Dallas Noir et Blanc –is a co-presentation with street-shot photographer Harry Hunsicker, and it runs from October 26 until November 24, 2019 at Janette Kennedy Gallery.
While art photography remains an integral part of his career, Hale's aerial camera work has expanded to include commercial shoots for enterprises such as petroleum companies, event spaces and architectural firms.
An Agatha Award-winning author, Daniel J. Hale holds degrees from Cornell University, the Bowen School of Law and Southern Methodist University. Hale served two terms as Executive Vice President of Mystery Writers of America, and he twice headed up the Edgar® Awards as its General Awards Chair. He taught creative writing with The Writers Path at Southern Methodist University on the school's Dallas and Taos campuses for over a decade. Hale speaks fluent French and is the recipient of the Diplôme Superieur de Français des Affaires de la Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris. His longtime position as general counsel for a privately held timber business takes him to Arkansas on a regular basis.
