Daniel J. Hale

Aerial Photographer

Daniel J. Hale is a professional photographer/filmmaker and an FAA-licensed remote aircraft pilot. He specializes in high-quality still and video projects for commercial ventures as well as fine-art gallery prints. Based in Dallas, Texas, Hale travels throughout the United States with his drone, his camera and an Airstream travel trailer in tow.

In early 2016, while overflying a tract of family-owned timberland with a remote-feed airborne camera platform, Hale noticed that the colors and textures of a creek bed running through the property resembled an abstract painting. He pointed the camera straight down, snapped a photo and then posted it on Instagram. The many abstract-nature photos that followed on his social media accounts led to an invitation to show his work at a Dallas art gallery. After three successful exhibits, Hale's work has expanded to include airborne and earthbound shoots for architectural firms, petroleum companies, forestry operations, event venues and equestrian exhibitions.

An Agatha Award-winning author, Daniel J. Hale holds degrees from Cornell University, the Bowen School of Law and Southern Methodist University. He served two terms as Executive Vice President of New York-based Mystery Writers of America (presenter of the Edgar® Awards). Hale is a licensed attorney, and he speaks fluent French.
